Do you love experimenting? Crafting system overhaul idea.

Do you love feeling personal growth from your experiments?

I've always felt crafting was too recipe driven and not experimental enough. That was until I experienced herbalism in the game "Life is Feudal". The herbalism method of crafting blew my mind. Crafting was FUN again! I had to make a spread sheet just to keep track of all of the results of experimenting because every single component was randomized per user. Basically my Rakta Stema plant has three benefits and those benefits may not be the same benefits as Uthanatos' own Rakta Stema. His first benefit from experimenting determines what the chances are his second and third benefits can be.

In herbalism you craft items with effects based on the results of your experiments and not a flat return based on the components of the experiments. This means each new player has a different experience learning how to craft new components each and every single time they try experimenting. The final product that is created is based on the experiments performed.

Scenario:

I spend five hours experimenting on Jade Charms and I learn every benefit from the charm. There are three benefits for this particular combination. Now a jade charm doesn't necessarily only FA, but it could FA or it could increase your damage slightly or it could replenish a little willpower every successful strike.

These are the effects in Life is Feudal for example:

Every Dreamsmith would be unique in their own right and be able to develop their crafts with more than just level in mind but with a greater variety of returned effects based on a lot more than a table where you can just pick and choose what you want to make and have to actually find resources.

I hope that made sense or the guides at least explained it better. If this could be implemented in Underlight it would change forge on a fundamental level.

Thoughts?
