Is there anyway to set my client to operate the way it used to be IG? I really dislike the /command for this patch,
Thank you,
~Kris

Not presently.

Is it just that it's different or is it a long-term hatred?

It's long term for me, not sure about anyone else, it's a lot like b.net and Asherons call, if possible an original option would be very much appreciated,
Thanks for the reply,

Some specifics would be very much appreciated too. Do you like anything about it? What do you dislike about it other than it just being different than what you're used to? Did you look at it in the PTR server (viewforum.php?f=64) and are just realizing you don't like it? If not, why not?

Breaking away from antiquated features is important for forward growth in the client. The old way did not allow for much expansion (like the new 'ping' feature). I get that it looks like a mechanism from other games, but honestly, there are only so many ways to handle chat displays so you're usually going to see similarities. We are always open to suggestions for the best way to do things, though, so feel free to throw some our way (viewforum.php?f=9).

I play in 800/600 mainly because I always have because my muscle memory is tied to icons being a certain size and also to reduce eye strain, one of the problems is it takes up 1/3 of my chat window. Other than that, and a lot of people used to have this problem in AC, but if you accidentally have clicked on the command line and you go to do a flurry of arts or items you're basically just writing for instance my blast and my flame key is, ; '; '; '; '; ';;;' which makes the arts not cast and taking extra time to have to reorient, in asherons call for instance you could accidentally miss group healing or swapping arrow types because the GUI is active and you have to try and recover which can end badly.
I like that there are extra commands and for instance if your just in thresh it would make talking easier though for me it would narrow my box more than it is with large text, again to avoid eye strain. I don't mind new stuff, I just really prefer the t/e box and the macros that are within them,
Thanks you!

You probably won't like when 800x600 gets phased out then either. :)

It will be interesting to hear from others to see if this is a common opinion or not. It is probably feasible to add an option for the old feature but I'm not sure of the over arching impact.

I personally don't like it either, and I've had this conversation with Tary already. My first issue was the text size, but he adjusted it a bit (I believe). I also don't like the location; it does feel like a strain on the eyes being at the very bottom of the screen. One good thing about it is it doesn't cover a large portion of the chat box. I'd love it if there was an option to use the original.
