Let's Talk

I've been hearing some grumbling from many people lately about the state of Underlight. In general I think the game should have more players; I know of at least 5 people that have left or would play if certain changes were made. This isn't a dig at anyone, and I really want to emphasize that. I think we are ALL in this together and I very much don't think there should be a distinction between player and GM. With that said, I'm independently, not Koi-related, trying to figure out what we can do as a COMMUNITY EFFORT to make this game better.

Note that I will make the results public but I will NOT reveal who said what. That is, before distributing the results publicly as well as giving them to GMs if they are interested, I will anonymize all feedback. I know that's putting a lot of trust in me, but all I can offer is that I really do want Underlight to be better and I welcome EVERYBODY'S opinion here, from people who have been terminated, to people who I've fought with, to CURRENT GMs, past GMs, past owners of Underlight or kittens.

Please don't troll the above survey though. I am really trying to gather some real input. Note: if there are questions you think should be added please message me (@macobas) on Discord.

Thanks.

Can this be linked to from Facebook as well? Maybe also Twitter... I'd like to cast as wide a net as possible.

Got 35 responses so far, I'm hoping for closer to 50 so I'll wait a few more days. But I haven't forgotten! I'll be compiling the responses soon!

Thanks for taking the time to put together the survey Tary. I am not sure what the answer is, so remain mostly silent with nothing constructive to offer at this point. There was a time when the population allowed for more spontaneous roleplay, which to me is what makes the game truly unique. It is a very small "good ole boys" club in my experience at this point. I have nothing bad to say about anyone specific, or even a collective group. I do believe it is nearly impossible to be a GM and a player at the same time, and it is not a criticism against them. If you want to be a GM then all your regular characters should be put on hold and new GM's actions should be closely monitored for a period of time.

I wish you the best in finding a solution to the issues!

I've started putting together the results:

Note that it's not done yet and I've not had the chance to summarize the free-text answers yet.

Way to go, NY. Thanks for putting all of this together, even if it's not entirely complete yet. I know that takes a lot of work.
