Fireside Chat Friday 8:00 DST

Postby Koi-Shadow » Sun Jan 08, 2017 6:50 pm

The GM and Dev teams would like to start back the "fireside chats" this *FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH* starting at 8:00 pm PST/DST at the Flask and Chak in the Basin of Stars. This will be an OOC event where players will be able to hear from the GM/DEV volunteers and ask questions or give feedback about topics such as story, teaching, and what's currently in development.

I might not be able to be there, would someone be able to log the chat and post it for others to see? Or at least the pertinent parts?
Thanks so much for all you do!

We will definitely make sure to post logs for the benefits of those unable to attend the fireside chat. Hopefully, you'll be able to make it!

Just a suggestion if you plan to do the fireside chat again:

Everyone could send in their questions the week of. The team can mull them over, and have the questions and answers already prepared. Other than the additional questions that will probably stem from the original.

Thinking on how the Final Fantasy XIV producer Naoki Yoshida does these chatty "letter from the producer live" videos, they collect questions a week ahead and try to answer a few, of course this is just a video stream, if you're doing a live chat WITH the player, it'd still be nice to mull the questions over and get ready to present some answers. I'm very much in favour of this suggestion from Tembs

I really enjoyed the open forum format, several of the questions I had were spawned by other topics that were touched on, or popped into my head as we were there mucking about

Koi-Wish: First off let me start by saying thank you for everyone coming out.
Golah: pensions are nice I got one
Wolfgar: Koi code for "rubbed out"
Koi-Wish: Its nice to see a big crowd like this, I hope to see big crowds like this more often in character too
Koi-Wish: My name is Brian, Wish, WishBringer as most of you all know and if you didnt. Well there ya go.
Nemi: I try to dream since my return, but my controller in her shard has been ill lately, and most times that I dream the new city has been mostly emoty or not welcoming.
Koi-Wish: Its been 3 years since a post was put up on the EoC forums by me
Koi-Wish: Saying no no no we cant let UL die
Koi-Wish: And we by the end of that night, had a small team, a website, an idea "clash of dreams"
Koi-Wish: And a Wish
Koi-Wish: A couple of weeks later we had a license, we had servers we had a bunch of folks i managed to scratch out of the woodwork from Lyra's original team.
Koi-Wish: I wont go into all the details
Koi-Wish: But ta-da
Koi-Wish: The City was back
Koi-Wish: All the old characters were back
Koi-Wish: And here we are.
Koi-Wish: I skipped a lot but if you dont know the story there are forum posts for it
Nemi: I have questions about the woodworks as well. I have so many questions. Sorry, I shall hush.
Koi-Wish: I dont take all the credit in any way
Koi-Wish: None really.
Koi-Wish: I just happened to be the guy who was able to help put a merry band of folks together.
Koi-Wish: I think I got lucky
Koi-Wish: And I also had the environment to host everything in
Koi-Wish: The servers are in a F-4 tornado resistant building
Koi-Wish: With Fiber redundant internet
Koi-Wish: Electric and cooling - a Data Center they call it
Koi-Wish: UnderLight has not seen fancier days equipment-wise
Koi-Wish: We have wonderful backup system
Koi-Wish: And we are here for as long as the lights are able to stay on
Koi-Wish: I know some folks were worried this was a goodbye meeting or something due to lack of population
Koi-Wish: Thats not the case
Koi-Wish: If the City was to drop to just 1
Koi-Wish: It would still be up.
Koi-Wish: There is no reason at this point to take it down
Wolfgar: the one being.....Purple Lace
Koi-Wish: Anyways
Magnum-4 howdy
Koi-Wish: The last 6months have seen some major stuff happening
Koi-Wish: Especially from Dev
Koi-Wish: Its been awesome and we are very happy
Koi-Wish: With that said let me introduce some of our team
Koi-Wish: Shadow is GM, also Public Relations guy. And I wont tell you who he drives. I would leave that to him if he cares to share but he is a huge part of the Roleplay support team for a couple of years now
Koi-Wish: As soon as I tell you what Comet does you will know who he is.
Koi-Wish: He is teaching lead.
Dreiko: Nessa Tre!
Wolfgar: the strain on the shirt must be enoumous right now
Golah: I will miss Dreiko
Koi-Wish: Echelon is rather new to our team as heavy support for RP, but all of you have likely interacted with his or Shadows characters at many points
Koi-Echelon: Yo
Koi-Wish: Koi-Anise is our Roleplay lead, she help coordinate RPs and has database access for generating some of the new folks you see on the RP team
Koi-Wish: Not to mention driving her own group of characters.
Koi-Wish: Citadel is rather new to the team as well with Roleplay support and Teaching assistance.
Koi-Wish: The middle guy there is Koi-Ajax
Koi-Wish: Who has almost been a HUGE part of the last number of builds.
Lu Chaos: Good job guys all of you.
Koi-Wish: There are some other big players whom are not here.
Koi-Wish: That might be showing
Koi-Wish: Koi-Seeker who is Dev lead and tries to keep things focused by Ajax is a coding machine at recent and its hard to tie him down
Lu Chaos: Good stuff you've been doing lately Seeker, and you as well Ajax.
Koi-Wish: Koi-JorKyrin who is our Administrator and my right hand guy
Koi-Wish: He has been with me since day 1
Koi-Wish: Hour 1
Nathan: millisecond 1
Koi-Wish: And all the servers would be no where without him
Koi-Wish: He manages all the infrastructure
Koi-Wish: Daily
Koi-Wish: All of us
Koi-Wish: Are volunteers and there are even more folks then this
Koi-Wish: There is a guy who does level edits
Koi-Wish: There are a few guys are purely on Dev
Koi-Wish: 1 never has even played UL
OfF KiLTeR: Fix that.
Koi-Wish: But is a great coder
Koi-Seeker: Awesome coder.
Wolfgar: Koi-Thing 1 and Koi-Thing 2
Koi-Wish: Its a big team with many moving parts.
Koi-Wish: And i hardly have any real role in it anymore
Koi-Wish: The leader of this gang of fellas is Koi-Drama who was supposed to be here, but couldnt make it
Koi-Wish: He is our Managing Director
Koi-Wish: Did I miss anyone?
Koi-Comet: Koi-Dusk
Koi-Wish: Ah yes another Teaching and Roleplay support GM
Koi-Wish: She might join us later as well
Koi-Wish: Just like your side of the table is a dynamic living environment
Koi-Wish: So say me is our side.
Koi-Wish: I dont rule over any of this, these guys check and balance each other for the most part
Koi-Wish: I just go along, and mostly get in the way whenever I do anythign really.
>Koi-Wish smirks
Koi-Wish: And then they yell at me.
Koi-Anise: We clean up his messes.
Koi-Wish: They do.
Koi-Wish: they are better at this then me.
Thunderman: There was a lot of that in prior teams.
Koi-Wish: Like I said, it might be my team, but they are your team.
Thunderman: prior teams/versions, that is.
Koi-Wish: I think we are going to push and sneak out one more major patch in the next month.
Koi-Wish: Before we slow down and Ajax takes a break cuz he came on board and said
Koi-Wish: I might help a little
Koi-Wish: Just a little maybe
Nathan: Damn that!
Koi-Echelon: He might help a little, and pushed out two major builds. I like his definition of a little.
Koi-Wish: Once Seeker took lead, after Spark retired
Koi-Wish: And Ajax came in
Koi-Wish: There has been new coding almost daily
Koi-Wish: And you guys are enjoying some of that new stuff now
Koi-Wish: Its been pretty neat seeing a 20yr old game
Koi-Wish: Still grow
Koi-Wish: And for that I thank everyone behind me for certain.
Koi-Wish: Your all awesome
Koi-Wish: For all your individual reasons.
Kelos: I hated COBOL...so, I'm no help
Koi-Wish: And all of you in front of us... we do this for you. For this game... for this nostalgic thing we love.
Nathan: Ew this game is in Cobol?
Koi-Wish: UnderLight
Koi-Ajax: That just means you're not crazy.
Lu Chaos: Definitely a good job guys.
Koi-Wish: OK anyone behind me want to say anything before i open up the floor for discussion?
Nemi: cobol, pascal, basic, all a pain in the ass. :P
Koi-Seeker: Compiles Only Because Of Luck
OfF KiLTeR: You guys are awesome. Especially those of you who work in Cobol.
Kelos: took them all
Koi-Seeker: Solek told me that.
Koi-Wish: Time frame for next build maybe?
Koi-Wish: Nothing.
>Koi-Wish looks around
Thunderman: Next week it is.
Koi-Seeker: February. Sweetheart release.
Koi-Anise: I'm going to stand here and look pretty like Comet, until someone asks me something.
Dimitri Raith: I was trying to explain BASIC to the IT guy at my job the other day. The kid is younger than the computer I downloaded UL on.
Koi-Citadel: I'll have what she's having.
OfF KiLTeR: Comet's description doesn't say pretty on it.
Koi-Wish: Anyone want to moderate?
Dreiko: I think the 9th Sphere dot should be more awesome.
Koi-Anise: His beauty defies description.
Nemi: Heh. Basic? Give him some SQL ot visuall C++. Just to piss him off.
Koi-Comet: Yes it does.
Koi-Seeker: Due to the patch for 3.1.1.1, we had a two week variance for the timeframe. While we try to keep an 8 week release cycle, we still have issues of cleaning up 20 year old code.
Kelos: I still have my TRS-80 somewhere
Koi-Seeker: Sometimes we have to reinvent the wheel to learn how it freaking works.
Koi-Echelon: and then Shadow and I break it.
Koi-Ajax: 2 of those 8 weeks are dedicated to cursing.
Koi-Echelon: Mostly at each other.
Koi-Comet: No just at you.
Koi-Seeker: At Shadow and Echelon mostly.
Koi-Echelon: Told you.
Koi-Wish: We have a dead week we call it, where we test the crap out of stuff, usually after Ajax makes a bunch of changes and yells at us for not testing
Koi-Echelon: Or only testing the stuff we like.
Lu Chaos: lol
Koi-Wish: Anyone want to moderate the conversation or we just going to wing it
Koi-Echelon: Someone should take whispered questions, and keep track.
Koi-Echelon: Not it.
You Say: If you would like for us to discuss something, whisper it to me.
Koi-Wish: One thing I want to bring up
Koi-Wish: Before we get to our first convo piece
Koi-Wish: Everyone you see behind you
Koi-Wish: Err
Koi-Wish: In front of you
Koi-Wish: Behind me
Koi-Wish: Is likely sitting at home
Koi-Wish: At their couch, bedroom, desk, kitchen table...
Koi-Wish: Just like you
Koi-Wish: None of us are in an office
Koi-Wish: Well maybe Echelon I think he is at work
Koi-Echelon: I kinda am...
Koi-Echelon: hah
Lu Chaos: I'm in the bed laying down.
Koi-Wish: I am at my kitchen table
>Golah chuckles at Lu
Koi-Citadel: Sofa. But I'm thinking about moving to lie down on the bed.
Koi-Wish: SO remember one thing for sure
Koi-Wish: We are just like you
Koi-Wish: Just folks at home
Thunderman: <3
Golah: I have 4 50 inch screens ones UL ones Mirc the other two are movies
Koi-Wish: Also, one thing that always always comes up
Koi-Wish: All the time
Koi-Wish: Ever since Lyra version of UL
Koi-Wish: And its the hardest
Koi-Wish: Absolute hardest thing we deal with
Lu Chaos: I would like the first question please.
Koi-Wish: And we try not to have it happen
Lu Chaos: Dibs.
Koi-Wish: And its the question of favoritism
Dimitri Raith: "We're just like you" is exactly what the secret reptillian ruling class would say to lull us into servitute and docility.
Koi-Wish: If your in PC you get attention, or your in DoL or your this person or your that.
Koi-Wish: Thats the toughest thing we deal with all the time
Koi-Wish: Nearly daily for certain weekly
Nemi: Isnt it OoLnow?
Koi-Wish: Yes them
Koi-Wish: We really try not to come across that way, honest we do. We want ALL of you here.
Koi-Wish: Not one house
Koi-Wish: Not one player
Koi-Wish: And if we dont partake its not because you arent someone
Koi-Wish: Your all someone's
Koi-Wish: Favoritism is a tough battle for us, accused of it all the time
Koi-Echelon: The thing about that is we have availability just like anyone does. Some times it seems like one group is receiving an unbalanced amount of support, but it usually can be explained by the time they normally do things where a supportive
Koi-Echelon: presence can be there.
Koi-Echelon: We truly do attempt to be fair and balanced, just call me the news fox, but not the bad news fox.
Koi-Wish: Its the one thing I wish we could stomp out for sure. That there is no favoritism
Koi-Wish: But it might seem like it.
Nemi: Fox news in my shard is .. well.. heh.
Koi-Anise: Making Underlight great again!
Koi-Wish: Shadow is taking the questions
Koi-Wish: First we have a question I will throw at Dev if they want to crack at it.
Golah: nemi is ooc you dont have to say shard lol
Seidy: if you give lu the first question...well...clearly favoritism
Koi-Echelon: Can I build a wall around PC? They keep immigrating into my City.
Lu Chaos: lol
Lu Chaos: I changed my mind on the question.
Koi-Wish: When the hell are the GateKeepers gonna get a boss art that does damage or something cool!?
Kelos: thinks of this as BETA
Golah: sweet question
Nathan: Please never.
Wolfgar: we are building a wall...Warcraft will be paying for it
Koi-Ajax: When they make one.
Koi-Wish: Ta-da
Kelos: just no F words
Lu Chaos: OH I have a question
Nemi: Some people yelp at me when i speak in OOC even when i ((mark it as OOC)) so I try to be careful, as this city is not the same as it was when I was here bfore.
Koi-Citadel: Please whisper questions to Koi-Shadow.
Koi-Echelon: Honestly, we pay attention to everything you do, when we are made aware of it. In game roleplaying reports help a lot with this. We receive them in real time. What we don't need are your individual emotes via rp reports.
Golah: you hear that Lu we can make that balls to the wall art now
Lu Chaos: loll
Koi-Seeker: Quite a few role-plays have created arts in the history of Underlight. Some of those arts, take Rally for instance, have changed because of roleplays.
Koi-Echelon: So, if you keep us up to date with what you're doing, it helps a lot. Just a general rundown would work best. What you're doing, what you've done to accomplish it and so on.
Uthanatos: I am not late as hell
Koi-Wish: I think we thought GKs were solid we brought the others up a bit tho. GKs didnt get love because they were already pretty good. Especially with the damage bonus
Koi-Echelon: If you need more room to explain your thoughts, send an email to Roleplaying@underlight.com someone will check that and make the other GM's aware of its contents.
Golah: the problem with that wish
Golah: nerf to reflect was too much
Lu Chaos: Now with that everyone has a balance.
Koi-Wish: Argue your side.
Golah: everyone BUT us has a distance damage art and we relied on reflect to even the field
Golah: it was ment to be a battle changer now its iffy at best
Koi-Seeker: The mechanics will be reflected and altered bcause of role-play support and involvement. Mostly player based, yet sometimes the Shadow and Echelon and Wish have ok ideas too which make the cut.
Koi-Wish: Your GK damage bonus affects every chakram.
Koi-Wish: Distance shots
Seidy: some of us can't aim though
Lu Chaos: Now Sms get a +9 shield flat damage thing now.
Lu Chaos: Kind of gets rid of the bonus.
Golah: fatesenders hinder
Thunderman: Reflect was over powerd before, its under powered now. Perhaps we can find a middle ground.
Koi-Echelon: You sure about that number?
Koi-Echelon: You should test it some more!
Lu Chaos: Not really just an estimate I guess.
Koi-Citadel: I recommend you test the new bonuses. They don't work how you're assuming them do.
Nathan: Speak of the devil and he shows up!
Koi-Seeker: Game balance is ALWAYS a factor which, everyone has an a.. opinion about.
Nemi: Please pardon me, i will wake. Not feeling well still, and this is the most interaction i have seen with other dreamers since my return.
Nemi: be well all, please forgive me.
Kelos: welcome Ducky
Uthanatos: conflicting tests, the shield, during my tests appeared to absorb 1% of incoming damage per plat of soulmaster, but it was preliminary testing
Koi-Echelon: You are assuming the new Focus Buffs are clones of GK, in so much that they function in a similar manner, number wise.
Golah: let me argue this point if i may and I will step down from there
Magnum-4 hope ya get to feeling beter
Koi-Echelon: We aren't going to tell you how they work, but that line of thought is faulty.
Golah: and Lu he is right the bonus for the other focuii is not as drastict as that
Koi-Wish: The mechanics behind the new focal buffs were really about balance
Koi-Ajax: 70% in Underlight is a very high roll rate. That's what the old Reflect was. It was heavily overdone as Lyra didn't account for it being used at high plateaus. The modified version brings the high end down to a more reasonable number.
Koi-Ajax: As for Hinder, consider the impact of a Gatekeeper having a good Fatesender friend.
Thunderman: 50%?
Golah: 50 if its maxed I think
Nathan: Or taking 10 blasts from 3 people, Ajax.
Lu Chaos: Exactly
Golah: I enjoy the other focii being stronger hell I was very invovled in the rp for it and I pay for that now
Golah: but I still think the tweak was a tad too much
Dina: just sucks i have to up my sm to get a better shield :(
Dina: should go by my restore!
You Say: I would like to say something on this topic.
Koi-Wish: We have some pretty good math folks on this side, the changes were very very math based.
Koi-Wish: Go ahead Shadow
You Say: I'm not dev, but my goal is for every focus to be balanced with each other.
Lu Chaos: Well I think Reflect should definitely go back to normal.
Lu Chaos: Mine literally doesn't work.
Koi-Ajax: What plateau is it?
Koi-Echelon: Very long conversations were had when trying to balance the focal buffs.
Lu Chaos: It's pretty low.
Koi-Echelon: Some yelling was involved
Lu Chaos: 1st plat.
You Say: Anything Dev does to change balance with the focuses, the GM team tests, argues, debates, yells about, threatens violence, and then comes to a happy medium.
Lu Chaos: Seeing as it doesn't last long.
Koi-Wish: HIs Reflect is 14 Ajax
Lu Chaos: I'd think it should still reflect at least with just a small duration.
Koi-Seeker: Ad nauseum.
You Say: We have representives that prefer every different focus on our team.
Seidy: just put back sprint for keepers and all is forgiven
Lu Chaos: 15 now.
You Say: Those that love dreamseers, those who will only play Fatesenders, Gatekeepers, and even foolish soulmaster lovers.
Koi-Echelon: Each focal buff involved many spreadsheets of numbers, as we crunched each plat and the math involved with it.
Dina: sprint for everyone! non gk's learned it at 5th sphere
Koi-Wish: I am biased to FS
Koi-Citadel: We have soulmaster lovers on the team? Damn.
OfF KiLTeR: Ugh, Soulmasters. The worst.
Dina: senders are boring, i can't make myself play kailee!
Wolfgar: jealousy
Kelos: the seers remember an art called invisibility...once upon a dream
You Say: Anything that's changed we will be monitoring and adjusting as necessary.
Koi-Echelon: Yeah, SM's can thank me for arguing for them. You're welcome.
Dina: everyone bitches about firestorm!
Nathan: DreamSeers are boring.
Nathan: EZ mode underlight.
Koi-Wish: That does remind me of another thing tho
Koi-Seeker: SoulGates will be the best mutant focus of all time! Just wait.
You Say: the FS and SM buffs were added 2 patches ago. In the last hotfix, they were improved.
Lu Chaos: Ok so my question is could you create an art that casts a temporary frontal shield? @ Ajax.
Dreiko: I disagree...Soulmasters are easier :-P
Koi-Wish: One thing that gets downright scary sometimes... is when folks Roleplay changes and they expect some things on the fly. We cant do a lot of miracle on the fly changes
You Say: If you have a question, whisper it to me so we can sort them into the best order.
Dina: i agree, sm is easy, i love it
Koi-Wish: Quest: I am going to create a new art called Lu Smash.
Koi-Wish: And then email us
Koi-Wish: be like
Sorsha: heh
Koi-Wish: Can you make this
Koi-Wish: The short is
Koi-Wish: No
>Lu Chaos grins
>Purple Lace grins
Koi-Wish: Can you altar this on the fly
Koi-Wish: No
Lu Chaos: lol
Koi-Wish: So... teachers
Dina: can you make me a baby pet flame?
Koi-Wish: Please steer away from the make this better quests
Golah: hey thats my thing thank you
Koi-Wish: Cuz they will likely fail.
Koi-Echelon: Doesn't mean don't try!
Golah: the baby flame I mean
Koi-Echelon: Like 15 minutes ago.
Dina: yeah well only certain ones got the baby flames, i want one!
Koi-Wish: Now theres a guy who knows where his towel is.
Kelos: oh...quickie...can we have our flags back on facade at HC?
Kelos: crap
Koi-Wish: That guy is a huge part of the day to day, and none of us can thank him enough for the work he puts in.
Hael Frost: Not gunna lie, a little pet flame would be adorable...
Dina: exactly!
Kelos: my whisper didnt happen
Dina: i could use it for my flame task i have had for a year!
Hael Frost: Dina, lets petition for them! Or steal them. One of the two. Whatever is easier.
Koi-Echelon: I am unclear as to what topic we are currently on!
Dina: damn straight girl!
Wolfgar: we are in the "I want this" phase of the conversation
Koi-Ajax: I don't know. I just deleted a random Soulmaster art because I got distracted.
Koi-Wish: Ok, someone asked about being able to forge new things.
Lu Chaos: I think we are just winging it.
Golah: it was on arts or creation there of for Gatekeepers but I think we are done and can move on
Dina: hey!
OfF KiLTeR: Hah! I bet it was the art of SoulMaster.
Koi-Wish: I think you guys have been seeing us slowly add stuff, and have seen tons of stuff from the GM side of stuff we can now forge
OfF KiLTeR: Now all you get is charms.
Koi-JorKyrin: Honestly, it is the GMs and Dev that put all the work in now. Give them the credit / thanks heh.
Koi-Wish: Its given us some really neat stuff to be able to RP with
Dina: you have to have sm to use a charm!
Koi-Echelon: Honestly, when it comes to creating arts. Try things. The best ideas come from the playerbase. Think up, plan, execute. But, don't expect to get it right away, or for it to even work. Doesn't mean don't try.
Lu Chaos: Aw stop being so modest Jorkyrin.
Golah: on forge seriously thank you for all the work put in, as a player it means a lot to really open the imagination and create cool shit
OfF KiLTeR: I think anything that opens up more RP tools with forge are awesome.
Golah: in cupids case, really cool shit
Koi-Wish: We can add more stuff too, its just a very limited palette - and requires a keen artist
Dina: blah, yall are making me do stuff to get stuff and it's not fair, now i have to join a house to make a crest and now i have to get my dreamsmith to create neat things....
Koi-Echelon: Okay, change of plans!
Koi-Echelon: Direct your questions through the Roleplay Report function. Thank you.
OfF KiLTeR: Ooh, fancy.
You Say: I'm having difficulty keeping track of questions in the chat scroll while also trying to respond. If you have something you wish to discuss please send an in-game roleplay report.
Koi-Ajax: What specific questions about Forge are there, though?
You Say: If you whispered one to me already, we have it.
Thunderman: Ok. I double dipped then.
Koi-Wish: Another question that was brought up was the bringing back of some old mare types
Wolfgar: party foul
Koi-Wish: Shaymares, nogs...
Dina: i just don't like the "have to be in a house for this and that" stuff, seriously, not everyone likes the open houses
Koi-Wish: Well this past year we introduced Revenants
Koi-Wish: Scary
Koi-Ajax: That took me a month to get working. Take that back!
Koi-Wish: Because they were us
Koi-Wish: But
You Say: Please stay on topic.
Koi-Wish: Its a personal goal of mine
Koi-Wish: To create a whole new beast
Koi-Wish: That is ours.
Koi-Wish: Something that came out of our UL
Koi-Wish: I think there are 18 different angles that need paletted... and its a tough thing to do obviously.
Thunderman: afk, ice cream.
Dina: afk, pizza
Koi-Wish: We could use an artist who likes working with like 8 colors.
OfF KiLTeR: AK - Brought the scotch with me when I sat down.
Koi-Ajax: But back to Forge. Adding more to players is technically feasible now. We have several routes we can take with the dynamic allocation of graphics as well. So, if you want something, roleplay it. We may have the means of doing it.
Koi-Wish: Shadow you want to handle the Focal Arts question?
You Say: A question was asked why Blade and Flame could not be learned as part of attaining a secondary focus.
You Say: The person argued that they could be used to help train other focuses as well.
Dreiko: That was a bigger deal when you could only train your "current focus", I think. We were bloody worthless tasking for awhile.
You Say: Secondary focuses were created so that they would not be as strong as a primary focus. Each focus is currently excluded from learning the Focus art, Flame, Blade, and 2 other arts selected from each focus to help balance the choices.
You Say: For instance, selecting Dreamseer as your secondary does not allow you to learn Blast or Combine.
Dreiko: Oops
Uthanatos: can I just point out that Combine is aaawesome when you are young and looking up to seers....but really not as iconic as Blend in the long run?
Dreiko: I disagree
You Say: Combine was chosen because it was the "focal guild" art, like Reflect, Healing Aura.
You Say: The only focus that did not have their focal art removed was Fatesenders who had Razorwind instead of terror.
Dreiko: Thank goodness you chose Healing Aura instead of Vampiric Draw
Nathan: Shh! Before they change their mind!
Kelos: the hamster fell off the wheel again
You Say: If blade and flame were allowed from the secondary focus, that would be 18 more tasks you would have to do before you changed back to your primary focus.
You Say: Having the secondary focus's blade would be of no benefit besides being able to task people for it.
>LadySilver drips on kelo's boots
You Say: Flame would allow you to use that focal stat to evoke it instead of your primary, but would still be very little benefit.
Thunderman: The question was framed as, what does it hurt.
Dina: you would have a flame that lasts longer before using an elemen, since you would have two element pools
Dreiko: Oooh 100 flame evokes. I like
OfF KiLTeR: Too late for you!
Dreiko: I agree with Thunderman
Thunderman: Too late, mr red dot!
>Thunderman grins.
You Say: It would add 2 more arts to an already crowded art list and it would take away teaching oppertunities from the primary focus teacher would be what it would "hurt".
You Say: Would it help newly awakened have access to more teachers if they chose to do that? Sure.
You Say: This is something we could probably discuss with dev and see what they want to do.
Thunderman: I know for some it may not make sense to do it, but to some it does.
Koi-Ajax: If the goal is to help the newly awakened then we could just remove the unique Blade and Flame arts and give generic ones to everyone that just cost different focal points.
Koi-Wish: Boom.
Thunderman: Your UL history buffs may dislike that, but it personally wouldn't bother me.
You Say: That would certainly make finding a teacher easier for new players.
Lu Chaos: The old days are over.
Thunderman: Lu Chaos, the art historian.
Dina: time for a new history
You Say: Imagine the frustration of a new player choosing fatesender and not being able to find a teacher to learn their flame for days because of their play time.
Thunderman: Right. That was the goal, to fill in the gaps for something that seemed harmless.
Dina: there's like 2 fs right?
Dreiko: I think it'd be better off just giving Master Teachers all of the arts newlies might need to learn (flames mostly)
OfF KiLTeR: But I already have like, 26,000 arts in my list Dreiko.
Dreiko: Under decree of death to not plat them like you get for secondary focus
Koi-Echelon: Just give Master Teachers the other focal blade/flame arts at the same level as their current art?
Dreiko: No, just level 1 to be able to help newlies
Koi-Echelon: Gotcha
You Say: An easy question was sent in: Does firestorm get boosted by the GK bonus.
You Say: No.
Dina: that or allow them to write tasks and the elders grant them
Thunderman: What would plateaus hurt though?
OfF KiLTeR: I think if the training were simply a generic art for Blades and Flame, that would be easy.
Koi-Echelon: Allow you to use each of your focal points, use less elemen? If the argument is to help newly, you don't need higher than a learn.
Dimitri Raith: You know, even from an in character standpoint, Dreiko's idea has legs. Firing a flame is the most basic channeling of your focal element. A 'master teacher' should be able to teach the concept, even if they can't focus that element.
Thunderman: My argument was to help. I didn't state just newlies :)
OfF KiLTeR: I think if Focal, Flame and Blade arts were teachable by all teachers, it would lighten the burden on focuses where teachers are in short supply.
OfF KiLTeR: That means that a FateSender can go to a fatesender for all the other majors and simply rely on the general population for the three arts that are not genuinely unique.
Koi-Echelon: Or perhaps Training your TranceFlame would plat your student's FlameShaft.
Koi-Ajax: Stop stealing my ideas!
OfF KiLTeR: That.
Koi-Echelon: You type slow.
OfF KiLTeR: Exactly that.
Dina: so we would end up with a shit ton of arts in our thing? it already takes me 5 minutes to find one...
Koi-Ajax: I had just typed it to you!
Koi-Echelon: and then I stole it.
Koi-Wish: My team
OfF KiLTeR: Also, can we witness one of your fights please? I want to see if you can fight dirtier as a GM toon.
Koi-Wish: This is our daily
Koi-Seeker: We are a loving argumentative team.
Koi-Citadel: These GM toons aren't equipped to fight. Otherwise we'd all destroy each other, and the chat would've ended before it began.
Koi-Seeker: Mostly the later.
Koi-Comet: I always win because I can take their spheres and arts.
Koi-Wish: Exactly
Koi-Echelon: I could still send him to the room without portals.
OfF KiLTeR: That is... anticlimatic.
Koi-Wish: I was nervous.
Koi-Wish: They get trigger happy sometimes.
Koi-Echelon: The idea of being able to plat the three arts discussed is going to be looked into.
Koi-Seeker: I miss Finger Of Death.
Dreiko: I can't help it my flame evokes faster than I can stop it. :(
Kelos: kelrith used that on me once
Koi-Echelon: Or was it two arts?
Koi-Echelon: Blade and Flame, or Focus as well?
Koi-Ajax: Maybe focus for lower plateaus. That's for you people to decide.
OfF KiLTeR: I think all three, really.
Dimitri Raith: I xompletely forgot about FoD.
OfF KiLTeR: That aleviates pressure on GK's and FS who might not have teachers who can plat to 70.
Koi-Wish: We have finger of death.
Koi-Seeker: Good ole Theogean.
Kelos: time for one more question?
OfF KiLTeR: Has anyone ever asked someone else to "Pull my finger of death?"
Koi-Wish: Shoot Kelos
Koi-Seeker: Got me numerous times.
Lu Chaos SHOUTS: Well then, thanks GM team, it is good to see how many of you their are. Good luck with everything and thanks for everything, everyone else, you should REALLLYYY start dreaming like this more often, that's how we'll pull in the new folks!
Kelos: Dreamers Cup....is it still there? why isnt it being used?
Koi-Wish: This is very true Lu
Koi-Wish: Dream and they will come.
Lu Chaos: \o/
OfF KiLTeR: it IS still there Kelos
Koi-Wish: We were just in DC the other nite
Dreiko: Because everyone's a ruler
Koi-Wish: When Blade and Dreiko got 9th
OfF KiLTeR: And it's not being used because no-one sees a use for it. Except old guys like us.
Koi-Wish: Foulmoth came in
Koi-Wish: Wasnt pretty
Lu Chaos: Foul is never pretty.
Koi-Wish: I think we answered all questions, feel free to corner your favorite GM or Dev and chat with them
You Say: Cup Summons is a guardian art that every house guardian has. The power token cost has been removed.
Kelos: can it be made a god zone...where you will not loose xp?
OfF KiLTeR: Sorry, I was stormed out for a bit...
Lu Chaos: I would like to pull you to the side Wish.
Lu Chaos: Just dont rub on me.
Thunderman: Is there any consideration to allow secondary focus dreamers to enter secondary focus areas, like repective teaching halls?
Koi-Wish: Someone said we need a name for this City.
Koi-Echelon: Dreiko can answer that question!
Koi-Wish: We have Lyran and Idoacleasan
Koi-Echelon: As a 9th sphere Dreamer, he knows.
Nathan: Idoalyra!
Dreiko: I can get in just fine brah
Koi-Wish: We can discuss I suppose, its never really been spoken about
Lu Chaos: Or Lyraclesia.
Koi-Echelon: I remind you, should you have a question please submit it via Roleplay Report.
Koi-Wish: someone open a forum discussion on it
Koi-Wish: Lets discuss
You Say: Making it so you do not lose xp in the dreamer's cup is an interesting idea.
Koi-Citadel: I was going to go with "Underlight" for the city name.
Koi-Echelon: Your question can pertain to anything you'd like answered, while you have the GM team in front of you.
Dimitri Raith: Variant-616, eventually we'll collide with Battle-World and get two Spidermen.
Xanthicus: Koian?
Kelos: dream city of Underlight
Koi-Wish: Someone asked about long term plans for the dream as far as platform...
Lu Chaos: Underlight being the same.
Koi-Ajax: The Teaching Halls are locked by the focal art. If you don't have the right focal art you cannot enter.
Koi-Wish: Well.... long term... we want to still be here for one.
Koi-Ajax: Guild House has a little different check but it's similar in nature.
Koi-Wish: Two, we have a guy who is rewriting the server
Thunderman: Right, but there could be other conditions to check to allow secondary focus to enter.
You Say: The old city was called Lyran because of Lyra owning the game. Koiware owns this city. So Fisherlight.
You Say: Let it thus be known.
Koi-Ajax: We try to make changes for the masses instead of just one person.
Koi-Wish: I want to migrate the platform to a VR system
Koi-Citadel: Can someone kick Shadow out? He's giving off bad ideas again.
Uthanatos: Carplight?
OfF KiLTeR: Piscaria, the city of dreaming fish.
Lu Chaos: Ooooo I got one.
Lu Chaos: nvm
Lu Chaos: GOod night everyone.
Nathan: Bye Lu.
Koi-Wish: Someone once was trying to port it to Unity
Xanthicus: I'm thinking the idea is more the era, not the city
OfF KiLTeR: wish can be our "Flounder"
Thunderman: Its for more than 1 person.
Uthanatos: I mean, call it carplight and everyone will see it and instantly think of that monologue from Exorcist...2...3 about the carp in the bathtub
Xanthicus: dang, ruined my next question: can we ban Lu?
Dreiko: You get the second focal art at 9th, Thunder. I'm guessing that's how they fixed teaching?
Dina: someone take my 15 minute timer away please so i can get a different toon!
Kelos: maybe a portal to DCA will get it used more
Koi-Echelon: There is not a way to waive the character switch cooldown.
Koi-Seeker: No.
Thunderman: Ok, that was an easy answer to give then.
Xanthicus: I agree with Dina, and I never play my other char
Dimitri Raith: Is there anything in the works to attract new players?
You Say: Let's talk about attracting new players for a moment.
Koi-Wish: Dimitri good question
Xanthicus: 15 minutes is LONG
Nathan: good night all
Dina: it is annoying xan heh
Koi-Wish: nite Nathan
Uthanatos: what are these different toons you speak of? People have time for more than one?
Koi-Ajax: It was 60 before I joined the team. :-)
Koi-Echelon: Short answer... the new player experience is being looked at, so that it can be improved upon.
Dimitri Raith: Well, at some point I had to add something to the conversation that wasn't a lame joke.
Koi-Seeker: We took the duration down from 60
>Purple Lace shrugs unknowingly to Uthanatos
Koi-Seeker: Yeah. What Ajax said.
Xanthicus: 5 would be enough for things to de-escalate
You Say: Like they said, our focus on the next few patches is improving for new players. We've been working on this for awhile behind the scenes.
Kelos: a new mare in between the emp and bog may help to keep newlies
You Say: The windows 10 compatibility patch helped a lot with this.
You Say: It did us very little good to do an agressive campaign to attract new players when it wouldn't have even worked on windows 10.
Koi-Wish: I thought the emp to bog was a good jump, maybe something between them and Ago tho
You Say: However, since then we've been looking at the account creation/training/ and new player experience.
Xanthicus: Yeah, jumping to Ago's was worse
Koi-Wish: Right
Koi-Wish: We look at the REAL newb
Kelos: 2 new mares then
Koi-Wish: Utilizing real newbs - and even kids
You Say: There is currently at least 3 different points from once somebody goes to www.underlight.com to playing the game that most new players would give up on and quit before they finished.
Koi-Wish: If anyone is marketing guru pls reach out to us - we could use some aid in this area))
>Purple Lace raises a hand and looks at Wish
OfF KiLTeR: One of those was the old Ravageone barrier. Knowing he was waiting for you...
You Say: Unless a new player has somebody helping them to download, set up an account, and start playing, they are most likely not going to get that far.
Kelos: the being IN character from the beginning may run some players off.
Koi-Wish: Most.
Koi-Seeker: The new training ground would be OOC.
You Say: For instance, you can download the game, go into training, play through all of training, without ever making an Underlight account or creating a character.
Koi-Wish: It takes someone special to play with us.
You Say: Once you enter the courtyard, you will get a message saying Invalid Username/Password and the game will shut down.
LadySilver: hey!
Kelos: I like that
You Say: With no instruction on what to do next. A new player would never even know that they needed to create an account first.
Xanthicus: Shadow, yeah, to that point, leaving underlight.com, to register an account at koi, would spook some people in the age
LadySilver: could we have some idea what newlies get for training
LadySilver: we got a dungeon and no oen told me
Koi-Seeker: At least until it was no longer necessary. Experience players including long-term players (based on time played), Guardians, Rulers, and teachers would be able to teleport to meet the unawaked and help them along.
>LadySilver laughs
You Say: Koi-Seeker is working to make the account system into the underlight launcher itself so that you don't have to go to a seperate website to create an account and character and all that jazz.
OfF KiLTeR: Perhaps, aside from the appreciation tokens, there can be some sort of reward program?
Koi-Wish: We've even discussed playing thru the Training area that would actually work with a newly up thru their frist sphere or two.
LadySilver: i almost sent one guy the mount it was thresh pits
Koi-Wish: A total thought only really
OfF KiLTeR: I think, especially for new teachers, there is a great opportunity to hone skills of the new dreamers AND new teachers.
Thunderman: I don't recall the training area every really being useful.
Koi-Wish: Right TMan
Koi-Wish: Thats why we are taking a new look
Koi-Wish: ITs been ignored for better part of two decades
Xanthicus: True, the training area is short
Uthanatos: well, I can honestly say, the 10% of it I remembered after doing it helped
Koi-Seeker: Yes. The holy grail from my viewpoint since joining the team has been a new game launcher to help you register for an Underlight account, create/select your character(s), and start to play all in one progressive UX.
Kelos: and you can disable it for the get go
Thunderman: You're better off coming up with a cinematic or something to teach the basics than use the training area.
Uthanatos: but, I still felt awkward as hell for the first two weeks or so until a few people helped me figure out a keyboard layout I liked
Koi-Echelon: As said, we are looking into making the Training area an online location, that can be teleported to by "helpful" players so that they can assist new people.
You Say: I've grabbed 4 different teenagers and directed them to underlight.com and told them to download the game and try to play. Purple Lace met one of them.
Koi-Seeker: Unfortunately there have been more than few technical hurdles to realize and workaround to bring this pipe dream to fruition.
Koi-Ajax: We're also working on making the default keyboard layout actually useable.
Xanthicus: keep an eye to laptop layouts
Koi-Echelon: Which is surprisingly a volatile conversation topic.
Koi-Wish: Yah I stayed out of it.
Koi-Ajax: Echelon still has a fork in his thigh.
Koi-Citadel: Who would have thought we'd have so much passion for where the jump key is?
Koi-Wish: Mine is the A button.
Dimitri Raith: What are the metrics on the website for unique views and where most of the referrals coming from?
Koi-Echelon: I still say you're wrong.
Xanthicus: space key!
OfF KiLTeR: I say make WASD illegal and grounds for sphere removal.
Magnum-4 v 4 jump !!
Koi-Wish: We have no one watching or marketing that any more Dimitri
Uthanatos: honestly, taking a census of active keyboard layouts should give you an idea of what most people find comfortable, and give you the basis for 2 or 3 different defaults to help people get started
Koi-Comet: Ajax and Echelon like to fight.
Hael Frost: :C I use that...
Xanthicus: Us old folk will hunt you down Off~
Koi-Seeker: I still want *IT* to be F2 instead of F3, but yeah, I lost.
OfF KiLTeR: Not if you don't have WASD!
You Say: The best keyboard layout of an experienced user and a new user are most likely not going to be the same.
Xanthicus: I can figure it out, and hunt you down!
Koi-Echelon: Ajax and Echelon are in a constant state of aruging.
Koi-Echelon: Shadow pops in to say hurtful things.
Koi-Seeker: Oh I love when you speak in third person, Echelon. You know how it amuses me.
Koi-Comet: That vote was rigged Seeker.
Xanthicus: Sorry, been using wasd since wolfstein and doom
You Say: So, once we get some of the new player enhancements worked out, I want to do an aggressive campaign to attract new players. Until then, if you see a "newly awakened" who has actually reached the dream, PLEASE try to help them.
Koi-Echelon: Xanthicus and I are best friends now.
Dimitri Raith: I think if you guys could pin down where most of the traffic is coming from, you could launch a social media campaign. Maybe try to get some of the game sites / tech blogs to do a review. To be honest, the older graphics could be a
>LadySilver lost her hand warmer and puts her hands in her pockets
Dimitri Raith: selling point to the indie/retro crowd.s
>Xanthicus smiles
Koi-Wish: Your right Dimitri
Koi-Wish: Retro is IN right now
You Say: If you are making a new character, PLEASE don't act like you don't know what key you press to jump and waste people's time.
Uthanatos: I tried to get my flatm8 into it, but she got frustrated after getting collapsed by an emphant a dozen or so times...even with Lace and Arnaya helping her, it was just too much shock from modern controls
>Koi-JorKyrin must bow out for the evening. Unable to keep eyes open any longer.
Koi-Wish: Nite Ducky
Koi-JorKyrin: nights!
OfF KiLTeR: Thanks for popping in!
Kelos: nite Ducky
Purple Lace: Right, if we can get some articles published on the gaming sites, etc... that would raise UL up many lists of free games.
You Say: The biggest problem right now Dimitri is that we would currently lose 95% of the players we attracted before they could even download the game and set up and account.
>Koi-JorKyrin hands out feathers to all, then poofs
Dimitri Raith: Agreed 100% there.
Xanthicus: I would also recommend possibly visiting the roleplating sections of reddit and slowly blending in. don't market hard though
Koi-Ajax: Another 3% when they accidentally pressed 'A' or 'G' while fighting an Emphant.
>LadySilver hides her feather in her pack
Uthanatos: wait, what are A and G by default?
Koi-Echelon: Goal book
Koi-Echelon: and something else I can't remember
Koi-Ajax: The Avatar popup
Magnum-4 artsd list
Magnum-4 oh
Dimitri Raith: Customize Avatar.
OfF KiLTeR: It's basically "collapse" because you don't know how to escape/
Uthanatos: yeah...I haven't had my keyboard defaulted in ages
Kelos: I still do that
Dimitri Raith: I mean, 'a' is strafe left for me... but, whatever.
Koi-Wish: Ok a good question came up; Sometimes it feels like GMs do not recall what has happened previously in a storyline, or what players have done to contribute to them. Do you feel documentation and communication among yourselves can be impr
Koi-Echelon: Point being, until we improve the new player experience, there's no real point in attracting new players. As they will become frustrated by the process and not finish it.
Uthanatos: honestly, aside from the login, I think people are very used to modern WASD/Mouse controls, and....let's be honest, our mouselook is terribad
You Say: And Dev is currently working on fixing that.
Koi-Echelon: Please direct questions through the Roleplay Report function.
Koi-Echelon: So that we see them!
Koi-Wish: Documentation and communication can always be improved.
Koi-Wish: Certainly.
Koi-Wish: We have tools at our disposal that no other iteration of UnderLight has had before
Koi-Wish: Very instant and quick abilities to communicate
Dimitri Raith: Wish, there should be a writer's bible for the GM staff... just like with serialized TV shows... I mean, you're not going to record what Purple Lace ate for breakfast on tuesday, but there should be something you guys can reference.
Uthanatos: oh....I thought he was gonna say....
Koi-Wish: The forums you guys see arent even half the forums we have
>Uthanatos puts his pinky to the corner of his mouth and squawks, "One hundred BILLION dollars"
Koi-Wish: OR maybe its half, buts its likely double the size
Koi-Wish: Storylines, roleplay reports, emails, complaints
Koi-Wish: A ton of data is stored and collected
Kelos: Citadel...getting your Osric on now
Koi-Wish: We also communicate using Slack - a communication tool that is on our phones and PCs
Uthanatos: which is entirely nothing like Skype for Business which used to be Lync
Koi-Wish: This is instant, and its where all your reports In-game go to
Koi-Wish: Its more like MS Teams although MS Teams is a Slack rip-off
Koi-Echelon: If a GM is around, they are likely keep track of Slack. Which is why we ask that you send RP Reports whenever possible.
Koi-Wish: Not day goes by there isnt tons and tons of communication in there
Kelos: what was that we used? Roger Wilko
Koi-Wish: We miss stuff tho
Koi-Wish: We are human
OfF KiLTeR: Oh, god, that old microphone set up in Mplayer... we need that back.
Koi-Wish: We screw up
Magnum-4 lol yes we do !
Thunderman: Slack is a prettier IRC with addons.
Koi-Wish: We didnt mean to hurt someone or stomp on your RP
Dimitri Raith: Roger Wilco was after they finally ditched MPlaguer...
Magnum-4 nah i had it in mplayer
Koi-Wish: And with all the hundreds upon thousands of storylines, your might be a dozen to fitty of them... its hard to keep track of everything
OfF KiLTeR: If we could just make IRC look like Mplayer, I'd probably pop by more often.
Koi-Wish: We screw up
Koi-Wish: I know I do.
Koi-Wish: We have even stomped on each others Roleplays
Koi-Wish: Its hard to record everything
Koi-Ajax: And sometimes people get over zealous when they realize new tools can be used in fun ways that cause oddities to occur with the Nightmares.
Koi-Wish: We have millions and I mean millions of lines of chat
Koi-Ajax: Right, "fellas"?
Koi-Wish: No way anyone can know everything and no way anyone of us could be keen on every single Roleplay there is
Koi-Wish: We try our best
You Say: I'd summon a horron in here right now, but you know.
Koi-Wish: Sometimes we do things that had bad results and we didnt anticipate
Kelos: no thanks
Koi-Wish: Like what these guys are subtley talking about behind me
Kelos: it would seek me
Koi-Wish: The rev teleport thing
Koi-Wish: It was never meant to destory an RP
Koi-Wish: Looks like we sabatoged it
Koi-Echelon: Ajax blocked me from summoning nightmares
Koi-Echelon: because of that
Koi-Wish: But it was Shadow playing
Koi-Echelon: made me sad
OfF KiLTeR: Speaking of summoning, I cannot locate "Something Odd." This really needs to be an avatar because I keep getting blamed for shit.
Koi-Echelon: Something Odd does not exist.
You Say: There's not a character named Something Odd
Zenobia: thunder, what the hell...you have strike?
Uthanatos: umm, have you met Offy....he's definately Something Odd
OfF KiLTeR: See?!?!
Koi-Wish: Anyways, I tried to answer that the best I could. I hope I have. Mistakes happen. We are only human players too.
OfF KiLTeR: That... that all the time!
You Say: We had to fix it so you can't locate invis characters because people kept going "OMG GUYS! THE DREAM IS DREAMING!"
Koi-Echelon: Unfortuntely, some times when we are trying to enhance something, we actually screw it up. It's not intentional.
Zenobia: how the hell did you get strike???
Abysmal is currently in The Unknown
LadySilver: we are observant
Kelos: we all learn by mistakes...that's how we grow
Koi-Echelon: I have an answer for that, that Shadow loves to say to me.
Koi-Echelon: Play and find out.
Koi-Wish: Someone said hey, we are trying to rename a single room, but an entire house and each member in it got to change their name...
OfF KiLTeR: Turns out the CoID was behind the fridge the whole time. He was just the first person to check back there.
Magnum-4 he ate all his veggies groweing up
Thunderman: Heh
Koi-Wish: The room name can not be changed on the fly like it was in previous versions of UL
Thunderman: Recent rp, Zen.
Koi-Wish: We have been working on it.
Koi-Wish: But it cant be done.
Zenobia: i didn't even know you still dreamnt hah
Koi-Wish: Requires an entire new build to do it.
Kelos: you mentioned something about room descrips before in a build....
Koi-Echelon: In progress.
Thunderman: Could you you store descriptions in an amazon s3 bucket and have the use the aws api to call the data / room descriptions?
Koi-Ajax: Why would we store them in AWS when we have a fully functional database of our own?
Koi-Wish: Also in the particular request for a room change it was in memorial for Zsa Zsa
Koi-Wish: She is not dead IRL
Koi-Wish: Or even IC
Uthanatos: exactly, only Wishbringer gets a room named after him without martyring
Uthanatos: that...was meant to be a joke....came out a lot harsher than I expected
Koi-Citadel: Room name memorials are reserved for dead characters. That should have been communicated to AoE early in their efforts, but a link in the chain of communication was broken. I apologize you didn't hear from us sooner regarding that reques
You Say: BRING BACK MEYLIA'S POND!
Koi-Echelon: The snark was real.
Koi-Ajax: The last patch was meant to only fix bigger issues. Things like us not being able to count Train Self tokens properly. And Echelon not knowing how to do math properly when we were calculating the focal buffs.
Zenobia: i've been laughing at aoe trying to get a room named after zsa zsa
Koi-Echelon: Hey, don't blame that on me.
Koi-Echelon: I argued for better numbers from the start.
Koi-Echelon: I totally tested the original build too.
Koi-Wish: Uthanatos, I actually gave Lyra $250 in a fundraiser even they had years ago to get the room named after me.
Uthanatos: I can't help being snarky, I just spent twelve hours on a conference bridge with an Indian, a Quebecois 2 Brazilians and a guy from Atlanta.....I had to translate everything for everyone...it was a travesty
OfF KiLTeR: Everyone could buy rooms back then.
Koi-Wish: Right
Thunderman: I had the same. Thunderman's Crossway, in evernight.
Koi-Wish: We blew most of them away, that was Sparks work
Koi-Citadel: I got an entire plane named after me.
Dimitri Raith: Yeah, you could buy a room... if you weren't a college student trying to ration cup-noodles to live.
Hael Frost: Mmm.... cup-o-noodles...
Koi-Comet: Ramen ftw!!
Zenobia: i like ramen!
Frey: chicken ramen is best ramen
Kelos: I just paid the $10 a month for a few years
OfF KiLTeR: I've moved from Ramen to Scotch. Both are bad for blood pressure, but Scotch gives me that warm...blacky-outy feeling that I love.
Koi-Seeker: I was the college student eating Raitha Noodles by Manchuwan.
Hael Frost: I like the lime sprimp one.
Hael Frost: Shrimp. What's a "sprimp"?
Zenobia: i like chicken and beef, drain the water then add a tbsp of butter!
Koi-Wish: In retrospect I should have named it something else. Cuz I got shit for it for years.
OfF KiLTeR: Sprimping ain't easy...
Koi-Wish: And still do.
LadySilver: young shrimp
Koi-Wish: When I thought I was helping Lyra out
Hael Frost: Haha
Frey: its a shrimp that managesd prostitutes
Hael Frost: Ha!
Koi-Comet: I like to sprimp a little Aqua Di Jio on myself in the mornings.
LadySilver: i love wishes palace
OfF KiLTeR: What really helped out was that picture of a young man with a Shamblix thong on his head.
Koi-Wish: Ha that was me, you remember that?
Hael Frost: I started laughing so hard, I learnly coughed up a lung. Thanks.
OfF KiLTeR: I remember...
Hael Frost: Nearly. Dear lord, my spelling.
Koi-Citadel: Does anyone else have questions they'd like to submit via Roleplay Report?
You Say: There was a question whispered to me about balancing DM encounters and complimenting Tjar'kan's ability to balance based on who was present.
Koi-Echelon: Tjar'kkan was just bad at fighting.
Koi-Wish: I think we try to balance.
You Say: We get a lot of complaints about DMs "lagging" and being impossible to hit.
Koi-Wish: The famous Lagswitch
You Say: Part of that is Horrons can only be hit directly in the back.
Koi-Wish: We got blamed once for having that.
You Say: Not at a slight angle to the left or right like Shamblixs can
You Say: But directly in the back.
Thunderman: Right..
Koi-Citadel: There may be times when overwhelming force is in favorable in light of RP, but those times are quite few. We try to balance combat.
You Say: Most of our DMs are all Horrons now because of how man yof you are 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th sphere now.
Koi-Wish: I am going to trance a moment. You guys have this.
You Say: Underlight code was written for what? 56k modems?
Koi-Echelon: I can say something pertaining to this. FoulMoth recently attacked at HC. You actually gave up when FoulMoth was at 14 drs and had no arts active.
Dimitri Raith: 14.4,
Kelos: may have to rethink that if we get newlies
Koi-Wish: Wait this is OOC - I am going to go stretch my legs and hit the bathroom
Purple Lace: Aye, I started on a 14.4
Dimitri Raith: I had a 14.4 when I played the pre-alpha.
Koi-Echelon: A single para chak, or one more hit to the back would have ended the fight.
Xanthicus: It is!
Thunderman: Didn't give up, just ran out of dreamsoul.
OfF KiLTeR: Wait. Someone acknowledge that we have a SERIOUS lack of potty facilities in Underlight. There should be a bathroom.
You Say: One thing we are currently working on is changing Horrons so that they have a 50% shield for the back left/right angels.
You Say: Instead of a 100% shield.
Zenobia: there is, on ool's facade!
OfF KiLTeR: Instead of "trancing" we should be able to just teleport in and out of the bathroom.
Zenobia: bathroom there!
LadySilver: little seers room
Thunderman: That sounds fantastic, Shadow.
You Say: This should help a lot with the "lag" of DMs and them being very hard to hit currently.
Uthanatos: and a lot easier to implement than predictive server side reticles
Zenobia: can you help dar'canon's lag too?
OfF KiLTeR: That would be amazing. Will that transfer to the "lesser" mares as well? Or just GM driven ones?
Xanthicus: And I seem to be retarded, I can't sphere, like forever now..
You Say: We have sent Dar'canon a new string to replace the one currently coming from the cup behind his computer.
Zenobia: haha
Frey: lol
Magnum-4 lol
Zenobia: maybe it will help!
You Say: We've discussed the 50% shield on the sides of horons for lesser nightmares also, but I do not see that having much of an effect.
Koi-Echelon: Each DM driver does attempt to balance each encounter. But, as Shadow said, when you are fighting a group of 6th+ dreamers, even as a horron DM, you can be overpowered quite easily.
Frey: upgrade him from the chalk chalk string
You Say: You are usually hitting those directly in the back anyway.
You Say: And they're not sidestepping around.
Zenobia: hah
Koi-Ajax: Yet.
Koi-Citadel: We have a question about how much privacy is afforded players in game. Is everything monitored and read, or just major events and things we "guys" are directed to?
Zenobia: it sucks when you are by yourself and trying to hit it in the back!
Frey: lol
Zenobia: in other words "do you read my qrp?"
Koi-Echelon: A question was asked as to how much privacy each player can expect. Everything which happens ig is logged. -TWO- people have access to this log. It is only read during an investigation to get to the bottom of something.
Xanthicus: that horron thing shold almost be a situational switch eh?
Koi-Citadel: Wow, that's cool Echelon.
Koi-Citadel: I was going to answer a question for once!
Koi-Echelon: Type faster.
Koi-Citadel: Type slower.
Calabosh: lol
Koi-Echelon: I type 158 wpm. Deal with it.
Koi-Wish: Well there is a guy
Uthanatos: use speech to text and get over it.
Koi-Citadel: I really don't believe that.
Calabosh: I smoke 158 weeds per minute does that count?
Koi-Wish: Who has really good ears.
Koi-Echelon: I interviewed for a job once, they didn't believe it either, cause it's on my resume. So they pulled up a typing test and I proved it ;p
Koi-Citadel: Yeah, I am going to need similar proof before I believe it.
You Say: Question: Can a ping function be added so that people can have an idea how much server lag they have at any given time. Ajax or Seeker?
Thunderman: Thats cruisin. I think I'm around 114wpm.
Koi-Ajax: That's why he's my secretary.
Koi-Ajax: Evoke Sense Dreamers.
Koi-Echelon: So, short answer, do you have privacy, yes. If you are off somewhere alone with one other person MB'd, gm's aren't spying on you.
Zenobia: i got a promotion because i have computer skills, woot woot!
Uthanatos: somewhere about the same Thunder, and I spend all day writing router configs
Koi-Wish: Right Echelon.
Koi-Ajax: That will generally give you an idea about your latency. Same with Locate Dreamers.
Koi-Ajax: We can investigate a direct ping capability, though.
Koi-Ajax: Maybe we can turn Uthanatos' avatar red when he's having one of his fits.
Koi-Echelon: We take each of your concerns quite seriously. Any time a complaint is made it is investigated in depth.
Koi-Ajax: Calabosh would be green with his excellent connectivity.
Thunderman: Any consideration for a unghost feature? Where if an account tries to log in and they are already marked as logged in, it disconnects them to allow the player to log in.
Calabosh: I am always green!
Uthanatos: Uthy's latency is....spastic
Koi-Ajax: We are working to make it easier to unghost characters.
Koi-Wish: We have worked on it a few times.
Kelos: I'll never hear a ping
Koi-Wish: Still are.
Koi-Ajax: Kelos would be colored like Manhattan traffic during the Thanksgiving Parade.
Xanthicus: that would be nice, some one tried to log in from the same IP...
Xanthicus: tries
Koi-Echelon: Someone answer Thunderman's unghost question.
Xanthicus: they can get in
Koi-Echelon: That's not my area.
Koi-Seeker: Unghosting is defintely a priority. I experienced it myself trying to login after a disconnect for this chat. The problem might be addressed from monitoring the player's connectivity by other means because the server and client poorly
Koi-Wish: Anyone have anything they need to speak directly to me about, if not I am going to head out its 1:20am in my world -
Koi-Seeker: handle disconnects.
Koi-Wish: These guys got it from here
Koi-Wish: Thank you everyone.
Magnum-4 good night
Purple Lace: Thanks Wish.
Koi-Seeker: Thank you again Koi-Wish.
Xanthicus: be well Wish
Thunderman: Thanks.
Kelos: thanks Wish
LadySilver: nigth wish!
Hael Frost: Goodnight, Wish. C:
OfF KiLTeR: Thanks WIsh

Koi-Echelon: Wish is gone, let's collapse everyone
Calabosh: I am down!
Calabosh: Collaspe me first!
Koi-Echelon: It takes too long to evoke my blade
OfF KiLTeR: I will immediately cross all your names off of my Christmas List.
You Say: and you have god mode on anyway
Koi-Echelon: I lost interest.
Uthanatos: TGM
Calabosh: I did send a question in, don't know if you guys got it
Koi-Echelon: We did.
Koi-Echelon: I think Comet fell asleep on his keyboard
Koi-Echelon: As its a teaching question, I'd like teaching lead to answer it
Calabosh: Ah okay, I just got off of work. I am probably about to fall asleep on my keyboard here soonish.
Koi-Comet: There was a question about sphere tasks. Would ther be a way to make them easier or make themso that a person who dreams mostly by themselves or with a small group.
Koi-Echelon: It's alive!
Koi-Comet: The answer is of course things can be altered.
Koi-Comet: But, sphere tasks are already easy enough as it is.
Koi-Comet: It's the work that's put into them mostly and not the outcome.
Calabosh: Well maybe for other people, but damn I can't stand doing sphere tasks.
Koi-Comet: Is it going to be easier to do a 3rd sphere task than it is a 7th? Yes.
OfF KiLTeR: Find a different sphere teacher.
Uthanatos: perhaps you are getting the wrong tasks Calabosh
LadySilver: the unversal answer is 42
Calabosh: No its 69 Sil
You Say: Also, for instance, the requirements for 6th sphere are: "Event impacting more than one house or group. Events and progress MUST be documented on the Public Scrolls and usually requires 5 to 6 events to create the whole."
LadySilver: not in mixed company cala!
You Say: Nothing in that says you must have at least 12 other dreamers participating.
Calabosh: True.
Koi-Comet: The reasons for the postings was because people were just saying this is what I did and only two people were there.
Koi-Comet: I'm not going to go through millions of lines of text to see if you are doing events.
Koi-Comet: What I would find would scare me and I would need many many therapy sessions.
Calabosh: lol probably
Uthanatos: pssht, I'm not even going through hundreds of lines with a search option to find a quote....if I don't remember it, screw it
Calabosh: Some of theses people man!
Thunderman: Thanks folks. I'm off.
Dimitri Raith: No, she's got a spider-bot to aggregate all your QRP into a series of romance novels.
OfF KiLTeR: Not to speak for the teaching lead, but I always find that it works best when the student has something they want to do in mind. If you are engaged in an idea, I would be a bad teacher to make you do something else.
Magnum-4 good night
Dimitri Raith: 50 Shades of QRP.
Xanthicus: you might be able to sell some of that...
Uthanatos: btw wtf is QRP?
Uthanatos: I know ERP
Koi-Ajax: It's Quality.
Uthanatos: Qua....
You Say: Quality Role Playing.
Xererth: "Quality" Role play. Underlight cybersex
Hael Frost: Haha I've always seen it as QRP, nt ERP.
Uthanatos: I understood from context, just didn't know what the Q stood for
Uthanatos: ERP, Erotic Role Play
Kelos: horrible...when I was female...uggg
Hael Frost: Well, you learned something tonight.
Xererth: A euphenism
Koi-Comet: Off is right. Having ideas is great. If you can imagine writing literally 20- 30 tasks and hearing as many reports in 5 hours time and have someone go I want a sphere task but I don't know what I want to do...can make your head spin.
Koi-Ajax: Are there any questions related to functionality fo the game?
Koi-Ajax: Shadow!
Koi-Echelon: Damn it shadow
Koi-Ajax: I actually removed the "Damn it" from my statement.
You Say: I can't drop a statue of two lovers embracing?
Xererth: Make me a scary horron!
Koi-Echelon: No, because I know what you think it is.
OfF KiLTeR: Can I have one of those? That would be great in a fight to drop in front of someone blasting...
Calabosh: Your a scary Horron Xer!
You Say: Fine.
Koi-Ajax: I'm going to burn this place down!
OfF KiLTeR: At least this bar is now living up to its potential. A meatmarket.
Koi-Echelon: When we were testing the new forge graphics, Shadow filled every room on the dev server with things. Couldn't get anywhere.
>LadySilver laughs
Calabosh: Sounds like something I would do
You Say: So guys, these are the new "no pickup" items that were added.
Magnum-4 woooo toasty
Koi-Echelon: You're cleaning this up.
LadySilver: pick up items and qrp i am gettign confused
Kelos: what happened to the chick in the library?
You Say: The angel statue?
Koi-Echelon: a No pickup item is something GM's can put down, that players cannot interact with.
Koi-Ajax: The graphic was lost temporarily.
OfF KiLTeR: Well it's hard to get to QRP untiul you accomplish the Pickup...
OfF KiLTeR: Unless you were Ravageone.
LadySilver: thank you
Koi-Echelon: We use it for RP purposes.
Hael Frost: Ha.
Uthanatos: curiosity question, how modular is the code for those no pickup objects?
You Say: That is something that you could possibly request with roleplay support now.
Uthanatos: I mean, is it flexible enough to encompass anything that already has a template?
Koi-Echelon: Ajax created them. So he can answer that.
Koi-Ajax: I did not.
Koi-Ajax: But the GMs can make anything they can Forge one.
You Say: Any graphic item/animated object in the game can be forged and made into a no-pickup item.
Koi-Echelon: Made them work?
Kelos: Ravageone made me a man again
OfF KiLTeR: After he....
You Say: Such as this lovely statue of two lovers embracing
OfF KiLTeR: God... that's not FAIR KELOS
LadySilver: we are s glad kelos
Koi-Seeker: We can only assume it was consenual.
OfF KiLTeR: I can't... too much.
Calabosh: so many flames
OfF KiLTeR: I can actually see the fires of hell in front of me. I deserve it.
Kelos: fire
Koi-Echelon: Mine now.
You Say: So for instance, if you wanted to plant a tree some where to honor someone, that is possibly something we could do.
Kelos: there's a song
Xererth: Ew what is that?
Kelos: there was a dreamer named frogsteeth
Koi-Ajax: Burn it!
OfF KiLTeR: It's its own identity crisis.
LadySilver: ohh my
Koi-Echelon: There are two people who handle the majority of your RP requests. There is more RP support personel of course, but Shadow and I do the majority of it.
You Say: The item name is called Lumitwist.
You Say: Your guess is as good as mine
Kelos: cool
Calabosh: lumitwist... huh okay.
LadySilver: has guesses
>LadySilver whistles
Xanthicus: like it
Uthanatos: alright, lads, and lasses, I'm glad I came, but, it's sleeting out, and I've been up for 12 hours without breakfast, so, I'm gonna go get some breakfast before the roads go south
You dropped the Rain!
OfF KiLTeR: Is it possible for a player to acquire one of these for future use?
Xererth: Can you make avatar objects? Like pocket Emphants?
Koi-Comet: I'm going to have to head out myself. Does anyone have a question before I go?
You Say: Not currently, no.
Xanthicus: Be well Uthy
LadySilver: thank you!
>Uthanatos waves and flickers around the edges before winking out of existance
Xererth: sad face. like the ones in the museum haha
>LadySilver waves
Koi-Ajax: And you are about to miss out on your final chance for asking functionality related questions.
You Say: I have a question
You Say: What's in the next patch?
Kelos: damn
Koi-Ajax: Shadow nerfs.
Koi-Echelon: Reflect causes you to take additional damage from all sources.
OfF KiLTeR: All the male avatars get their capes back.
Xanthicus: can I blow up a whole house? Hypotheticaly of course
Koi-Comet: Thanks everyone for coming and bringing your questions. Keep playing and sharing your ideas through your roleplays.
Koi-Echelon: Anything is possible, RP it and find out.
Koi-Ajax: There are some in-character roleplays going on that will change at least one art.
Purple Lace: Thank you for the chat!
OfF KiLTeR: I don't get an opportunity to thank you all often so I will do so now.
Xanthicus: Thank you KOI's
Magnum-4 yep thanks yall
OfF KiLTeR: You have all sorts of places you can spend your time and energy, and it means a lot to me that you share it with us.
LadySilver: aye i agree with off thanks
OfF KiLTeR: Thank you all, very much.

Thanks so much for posting the logs. Hate that I was unable to make it, but reading this helps a lot.
Again, many thanks to all the Koi team for everything.
