What music are you listening to?
Seeing the big music discussion in another thread, I thought it would be a nice idea to have a thread sharing
our music tastes and what we have been listening to lately.
Here are some songs I have been listening to.
This is a really awesome, intense song from one of my favorite British bands.
Behemooth by the Moulettes
I recently came across this band from a friend. Their music is spooky, eerie and the lead singer is Ryan Gosling!

Re: What music are you listening to?
I really enjoy classical piano for how crisp the notation and transitions are but I wanted something fast to get lost in.
For this reason I've picked Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven with the tempo increased, performed by Valentina Lisitsa
Also because I love technology and I one day will be purchasing this technology to publish my writing with when I'm comfortable with the english version: This is Vocaloid's Diva voice singing World is Mine in Japanese.

I've only recently gotten over listening to 5fdp. It's good for when I'm angry and looking to vent but not all the time. Don't get me started on that...I listened to 5fdp for seriously seven hours after hearing them the first time.coltdorsey wrote:What, no 5fdp?

I guess the underscore here is that music affects us all differently then. I know music affects the mood you're in, but I guess personally I can listen to them in any mood.Malarky wrote:..It's good for when I'm angry and looking to vent but not all the time...coltdorsey wrote:What, no 5fdp?

Re: What music are you listening to?
I listen to a lot of folk and sea chanties, it's a thing, that's not to say that's ALL I listen to, everything depends on my mood, sometimes I'll whip out "The Refreshments" playlist on pandora, or the Cranberries, other day's it's GWAR, on occasion it's Garth Brooks, Freestylers, Marilyn Manson, The Sex Pistols, Tom Waits, Agent Orange.....all over the place, really.

Ya know, I decided to create greater understanding, I'll list off what's on my Pandora right now, it drops the oldest playlist as I create a new one, and I'm a lazy ass when it comes to pandora so I'm sure there are some terribly similar stations.

I tend to listen to a lot of HaleStorm, Distrubed, GodSmack, Icon for Hire and NightWish when I'm playing UL. You know the meme that says "My musical taste ranges from 'Hey, Listen to this' to 'Please don't judge me'"? Yeah, that's me to a tee

Wow uthanatos that is the most diverse list of music and genres I have seen in a while. I love it.
I have been listening to a lot of my DS ic from the band, Tool after learning they are releasing a new double album. I couldn't be more excited for it.

Re: What music are you listening to?
My taste in music ranges almost anywhere from Elvis Presley to Rihanna. My favorite genres are 90s alternative, 80s hair bands, and Motown. These are some of my favorites:
AC/DC
Metallica
Aerosmith
Creed
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Thomas Rhett
Christina Perri
Staind
A Perfect Circle
Puddle of Mudd
Limp Bizkit
Disturbed
Flyleaf
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Smashing Pumpkins
Green Day
STP
ICP
My Chemical Romance
Good Charlotte
Goo Goo Dolls
The Offspring
Candlebox
Motley Crue
KISS
Bush
Rush
Sublime
Boys II Men
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Nelly
50 Cent
Twista
Ludacris
I could go on for days! I love music, but I can never listen to it while playing UL - it distracts me.

Re: What music are you listening to?
Music really is the key, I try to be diverse, but I can't get into a lot of the newer hip hop stuff. It's a matter of being able to relate, and a lot of rap and hiphop now, I can't understand the words...which is baffling because I can totally understand GWAR, Pantera and Green Day. I will say though, if anyone hasn't checked out George Watsky...do it, he's a phenomenal rapper/singer/songwriter/producer. My personal favorite is Sloppy Seconds, which I'll link below.

@uthanatos I think that the problem with finding good hip hop and rap in the modern day is that the more mainstream stuff is the worst compared to some lesser known bands. I recommend trying Childish Gambino. Great stuff that is easily understandable.and equally dorky.
@Kendo I love the lineup. Good diversity and a ton of fun stuff. I love the joviality of bands like They Might BE Giants. We need more whacky playful bands out in the world.

What a fun classic jrpg style game! You are right, great soundtrack! I am a firm believer of the power of video game music. One that I always go towards for a.great mix of style is the soundtrack to Bastion.Inzoum wrote:At this very moment, I'm listening to the soundtrack to Tokyo RPG Factory's I am Setsuna

Re: What music are you listening to?
I've got a pretty varied selection on my iPod, some Jpop albums (Utada Hikaru, Itou Kanako), video game soundtracks, Lana del Rey, Queen, The Cranberries, DJ Fresh, U2, orchestral renditions of other game music (Distant Worlds, various tracks by Yoko Shimomura), etc... Just not a big fan of hip-hop or any kind of rap music.Joandaltha wrote:What a fun classic jrpg style game! You are right, great soundtrack! I am a firm believer of the power of video game music. It's all stuff I actually listen to in the car. It's funny when I get passengers who'll say "that's pretty neat, what movie is that from?" and they're surprised to learn it's from a videogame or another. Though over the years, it's become less of an oddity to listen to such soundtracks than it was before.
I went to Vienna for the Distant Worlds concert last time they were there. Dressed up all spanky and all. it was great, there were some incredible cosplayers too, everyone mixed so well. I got an autographed album, signed by legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu, singer Susan Calloway (also on my iPod) and director Arnie Roth. Beautiful city, Vienna, by the way.

Re: What music are you listening to?
There are times when Yackity Sax would possibly be the best thing ever going...
In all seriousness, I get into a groove now and then where I start going back and listening to old stuff so lately I have been cruising around listening to (In no particular order):
Dinosaur Jr.
Tool/A Perfect Circle/Puscifer
The Heavy
Diesel Boy
Down by Law
Broken Bells
The Shins
Kaiser Chiefs
Jane's Addiction
Nine Inch Nails
NoMeansNo
The Kinks
Ministry
White Zombie
KMFDM
LCD Soundsystem
We Were Promised Jetpacks
Propaghandi
When I am looking to slow things down I listen to:
Morcheeba
Massive Attack
Portishead
Mazzy Star
Phish
Radiohead...
That could all change and next week I'll be all about classical or disco, there's no telling...
