Facts about missions, universal quests, and tasking

Post by Koi-Cricket »

There is a misconception that new things implemented in game may take away from from dynamic that is tasking.

The Missions came along a couple of years ago as a way to counter downtime, inactivity, and slow advancing. Missions not only helped with people struggling to gain XP because of the amount of time it took to gain an orbit at a high sphere, but it also offered other incentives, such as "reward tokens" that could be collected, and if enough reward tokens were collected, could be offered a plat according to the amount of tokens collected.

There is only 1 Rank 3 Mission in the market that offers reward tokens. Those Rank 3 missions may only be turned in once per day. A player must collect 6 of those tokens to get a 60-70 plat. This means, that a player cannot get a plat from the markets reward tokens roughly but once a week.

There is a lot to gain from missions because you have players in game during the day and other random down time hours when typically no one would be around, having something to work on and work towards.

The other rank missions offer other types of rewards and can be turned in up to 3 times per day. This is what the -majority- of missions turned in are from.

Missions do not take away from player tasking and interaction. Missions have enhanced interaction a great deal. People are working together to complete missions together.

According to calculations, the small % of players that actively do missions for plats, do more tasking from players than they do missions. (double). Missions have not taken your student.

There are currently only a small % of players doing missions for the rank that offers reward tokens. About 10% or less of the current population.

To give players more "interaction" as they requested, we allowed teachers to actively do missions of their own. Which helps teachers teach and be actively in game to accept the missions from players. They may also offer reward tokens, but if they do choose to do the rank 3 mission that offers reward tokens, they may only allow the student to report it once per week.

Universal quests were introduced recently. These are quests, only offered in a different way than verbally. But are reported verbally.

Options are offered because we have a diversity of players, and many like different things. We have some that love doing the missions and also teachers that love giving out missions themselves.

The dynamic of teaching and student interaction is and will always be part of Underlight. It is up to you as a player, to teach, or to task.
