Equilibrium

This is our story, writ with chaotic pen.
Every page inked with words of black,
Upon a continuously fluid plaque.

We dream to end our sentences with a confident period.
Only to be claimed with a wondering question mark,
As the next chapter unfolds into a new arc.

While looking every which way but forward,
Arose the nimbus clouds of malice -
That laced the drink within each citizen’s chalice.

Filling my throat with emerald smoke,
As I choke on my inner darkness -
Utterly stricken from the starkness

For you and I were wrought with scars
A loose grip had me falling through the cracks.
And as I fell, the shadows smiled back.

To lose control of conscious mind
We allow our imaginations to unwind
