Forge Guild Hall

Post by Brother Timothy »

It is the first day of Brother Timothy’s return to the dream. He stands in a new part of the library amazed at all the old friends he seen that he had thought were dead and gone. Many of his old friends greet him. He is so honored that they remember him. He is also shamed that there are some that he does not. His friends invite him to the 5th sphere hall to the first forgers guild meeting. He listens to them, honored they would invite him, who does not have forge, to such an august gathering.
“So tell me about this other city” he asks his new friends. “Well we had a forgers guild hall in Harrow” he is told. “Really? Tell me about it” he inquires “What a wonderful idea” he thinks.
“So do you think the power token boost to forge is why so many are joining the houses?” an old friend asks. “I am not sure what you are talking about” says Brother Timothy. The old friend explains that if you use a power token you can forge items like in the old days, but if you don’t you can only forge items like the ones they could forge in the other city. “Yes,” says Brother Timothy “I think that does give houses an unfair advantage.” Thoughts of how a superior forge could help those without houses and their resources race through his head while he talks about houses being faith based and how a true house with true believers should not need any special advantages.
Sometime latter Brother Timothy enters the dream when no one is around. He quietly makes his way to his favorite sanctuary. He will be doing something that he has never done before, and an interruption from a hostile mare would not be appreciated. Once inside he drops all of his cloaking, he might need everything. He unfurls his wings and concentrates on the dream scape in his mind. He clears a space in there to work in and begins to sing the song of creation. He starts with the outside. He sings a cross shaped building of white stone that represents dreamsoul. In the four open corner areas he sings towers, each a different color representing the four focal energies. Rising atop the roof of the building, taller than the towers he sings a dome. The song changes slightly and buttress form between the four towers and the dome. A last subtle change in the song and a portal appears in the middle of the front wall. Stepping inside of the main hall he starts by singing four colored half arches from the corners up most of the interior of the dome. The arches run on the inside where the buttress are on the outside. At the top of the dome he sings an oculus of pure clear crystal. The light shining in forms a perfect circle in the middle of the floor. A slight change and a circular estrade rises up in the light, so an orator standing on it would be bathed in light. Looking up at the rest of the dome the harmony changes and it becomes stained glass. The scenes of the glass depict forgers crafting great items. The light shining through the glass paints the images on the floor around the circle of light in the middle of the room. The song changes again and frescos of more forging cover the walls. Stepping through the portal to the right into the void beyond the song changes and a circular room appears. The walls of this room are terraced and the roof has crystal lenses to direct the light onto the terraces so objects placed on them will be well illuminated. This vault is designed simplistically so nothing detracts from the well-lit objects on the terraces. This would be where the masters would display their finest works. With a change a second room exactly like it appears on the other side of the main room. Brother Timothy walks slowly up to the portal across from the main hall entrance. This would be the most difficult part. He passes the portal into the void beyond. In GotE there are rooms with walls that were made of bricks with power tokens imbedded in them. Brother Timothy sings into creation a cube with a power token inside of it, on the top is a house symbol. Three more times he sings cubes each with a different house symbol. He binds the four with power interconnects into a larger square paving block with the house symbols showing. He then drops the paving block at his feet. Fifteen more times he does this, making a four by four floor of paving blocks, meticulously arranged so that no house symbol touches itself, producing a circular concentric ring pattern. The energy bindings follow the pattern as well. The ability of glass etched with concentric rings to focus light is well known to him, this will focus the power of the power tokens embedded in the stones. He leaves the right and left walls, as well as the ceiling open to the sky for light and ventilation for now. If the floor is not powerful enough, focusing walls and even a roof can be added. He makes his way to the far end of the floor and his voice rises, springing from nothing but the song is a wall made of crystalized will. Into the thick wall of yellow stone he sings a hollow. The part above the hollow becomes a vast chimney. Into the lower surface of the hollow two troughs are made deep inside. The furthest in trough he sings a song of energy and it fills with pure lucidity. The lucidity sparkles and burns with its own inner flame. For the next trough the song changes to something more peaceful and it fills with liquid resilience. He steps back and nods to each side of the wall forge a light and airy melody and two large bellows appear. With another nod he sets the bellows in motion, forcing pure insight over the flames and the work area. A slight change of tempo makes a few hooks with tools in the front of the wall forge, and his work is done.
Exhausted, Brother Timothy rests after his creation, as is the custom. He examines the plans he has created in his mind. With a sigh he puts them away. He has seen no indication that the planesmiths from the other city that his friends had told him of, had made the journey into this city. Indeed he has seen no indication of any planesmiths at all. He can sing a creation in his mind, but to bring it to life in the city is far beyond his abilities, or anyone’s abilities that he can tell. “Perhaps” he thinks with a depressed sigh “I can whisper the idea of the forge room in the ear of someone and it might come to pass.”
