The Second Rule and You

Post by Koi-RuleEnforcement »

Dear Underlight Community,

On April 29th, 2016, within the Facebook Underlight Public Group, an Underlight player made an inappropriate post attacking another player. The attack was a reaction to being collapsed within the dream (IN CHARACTER). The player in question took this collapsing personally and decided to initiate a verbal attack on their fellow dreamer (OUT OF CHARACTER) in a public online forum. This post was offensive not only to the player it was addressed to (both IC/OOC), but by the UL community at large. Koiware condemns this behavior towards another player in an OOC public setting—which is prohibited by the game rules (see below). The actions taken by this dreamer and the use of distasteful, utterly, disgusting word-choice violates the Second Rule under “Respect Others”:
The Second Rule – Respect Others
Keep your behavior appropriate at all times. If your language or behavior repeatedly annoys or offends others, you will be banned from playing. We place no limits on the use of language. Consenting adults are free to engage in any language or behavior they mutually agree to, however, much of the player base are young roleplayers, and should not be subjected to some adult language. Inappropriate behavior includes attacking other players without a valid in game reason, using unnecessarily offensive language, annoying others with out of character chat, excessive begging, etc.
Additional Rule Amendment:
Due to this unfortunate post, today Koiware will be implementing new additions to the Second Rule to address this more clearly over other channels and servers managed by Koiware:
“Distasteful language whether it in-character to in-character, out-of-character to out-of-character, out-of-character to in-character, or in-character to out-of-character will not be tolerated on official Koiware servers or channels. The game staff retains the right to determine what behavior is deemed inappropriate and will go through a thorough and specific procedure to implement penalties. Penalties may include a verbal warning, temporary suspension, or in severe cases, termination/banning.”

Rule Enforcement Action:
The player in question has been permanently banned from the FB UL Group, and in-game suspended for two weeks.

Message from the Team:
The team would also like to apologize for the length of time that this post was on our FB group page. The reasoning for this was due to having only one FB group admin who had been busy throughout the day, and did not see the post until much later. This has been remedied.

PS: It is worth pointing out that going AFK outside of the sanctuary places you at risk. If you are collapsed by another character, that is your own in-character fault.
