is dual crest not allowed?

Post by Princess »

There was a debate before about the dual creast. what is the current ruler?
You see a pressed seal of wax is etched displaying in the center an empty Sigil. The etching is shaped in the manner of a coat of arms. The top right sector, a teacup, the top left, a dolly.

A single character can have as many crests as they can obtain.
A controller can only have one ranked character but as many initiated characters as they please.

Players cannot have *multiple characters* as a guardian or ruler in different houses. If one of your characters is a guardian or ruler in DoL, you cannot have another one of your characters be a guardian or ruler in a different house.

There are no rules against dual cresting or even joining every house for that matter; however, each house you join cuts the XP you receive from all sources in half. So joining 2 houses would give you 500xp for each agoknight you collapsed. Or if you collapsed a dreamer worth 100k, you would only receive 50k. Same thing for mission boards, if a guardian granted you 20k, you would only receive 10k.

Fun Fact: If your character joined all 8 houses, they would get 8 xp for each Agoknight they collapsed.

Shouldn't the formula be 1000/7 to be fair?
If you're only getting 8xp for an Ago the formula is closer to 1000/2/2/2/2/2/2/2 that doubles up the losses for each crest instead of for all the crests as a whole.

It decreases again by half exponentially for every additional house you join.

So, for someone with a crest in all 8 houses... the reduction for an Agoknight would go like....

1st Crest: 1000
2nd Crest: 500
3rd Crest: 250
4th Crest: 125
5th Crest: 63(rounded up from 62.5)
6th Crest: 32(rounded up from 31.5)
7th Crest: 16
8th Crest: 8

Wow.... the penalty for multi-cresting is pretty serious lol

That is false.

Here's how it actually works. The XP you get is based on a formula, essentially divided by the number of houses you're in. So if you're in 3 houses, you get 1/3 the xp. If you're in all 8 houses, you get 1/8 the xp. Just divide the amount of xp by the number of crests.

To correct Arnaya's list, the reduction for an Agoknight would go like this:

1st Crest: 1000
2nd Crest: 500
3rd Crest: 333
4th Crest: 250
5th Crest: 200
6th Crest: 166
7th Crest: 142
8th Crest: 125

it's been done a few times... used to be frowned on by the players in general...at one time it was common to have rank in more than one house for similar beliefs like oom/dol... i've known a fw who had all 8... but i never found more than 3 worth it myself.
